OH WORD?
» “Faces in The Crowd” presented by FolkArtwork «
It gives me great pleasure to announce for the first time ever, the FolkArtwork Collective will be live and in person on November 9th. Mark your calendars!
Six years ago I started an Instagram account showcasing outsider art. Followed by a blog, then helping over a dozen self-taught and visionary artists sell their work online. Now, I can't wait to put on an exhibit of their artwork in my hometown Des Moines, Iowa.
In just under 100 days, the works of so many of my favorite artists and people I feel lucky enough to call friends will be on display throughout the month of November at the historic Fitch Building in downtown Des Moines, just steps away from the Pappajohn Sculpture Garden.
Featuring the artworks of local Iowa artists, work from Los Angeles to New York City, as well as Canada and London — and for the first time ever the works of the late James Ash will be on display. More information will be coming out in the coming weeks including artist interviews, exclusive sneak peeks and more.
“Faces In The Crowd” a FolkArtwork production will have an opening reception on Saturday, November 9th — all are welcome!

"A lot of history housed in this great little match-dispenser/striker house, with the August 1914 painted across both long sides marking the month that World War I began. (On August 1, Germany declared war on Russia; three days later they invaded Belgium in order to attack France, which led to a British declaration of war on Germany on August 4.)
To dispense matches, one lifts the house just a bit, which delivers one match running across the peak of the roof. The short sides of the house are rough for then lighting it."
