FIND OF THE WEEK
No this is not a work by Lee Godie, but it sure is inspired by Lee Godie! This lovely piece of work is by Henry McDonald, and while it looks just like one or two or three great works by the Chicago artist Lee Godie, it was only inspired by Lee Godie. But may I add, job well done!
HENRY MCDONALD (b. 1961) started painting at a day program and quickly became a prolific and devoted artist. His subjects are diverse, ranging from fruit to flowers to portraits. Regardless of what he portrays, all his work shares a similar joyful palette. McDonald also uses his art practice as a means to support his love of gift giving, frequently passing his work along to friends. When not making art, McDonald keeps busy; he enjoys bowling, going to the movies, and shopping. — via SAGE Studio
The good folks at SAGE do great work and if you can, you should should support their work. It’s beautiful, it goes to a great place and it’s affordable… how do I know? Well they did just partake in the Affordable Art Fair and I thoroughly enjoy the few works I have.
This work is currently for sale via SAGE Studio & Gallery in Austin, Texas.

There’s something about knowing all about an artist’s life and backstory that makes me very happy. There’s something about not knowing a thing about an artist except their artwork that drives me wild. I’ve spent many a long nights on websites in languages I can’t speak or even recognize trying to know information about artists.
Nelius Faling is somewhere in between. There is very little known about the artist other than he suffered tremendous, lived a very short life and left behind some rather intense works of art that the public has seen very little.
These artists are worth celebrating! And worth knowing about! So here is the very little I know about the life and work of Nelius Faling.
