OH WORD?
Max Kuhn, Semi-Retired Self-Taught Tattoo Artist Brings Mixed-Media Artwork to The FolkArtwork Collective
I’m very happy to continue expanding and sharing this platform with artists to spread the word about their art and find new homes for their wonderful works of art.
A handful of brilliant works by Max Kuhn, a multimedia, formerly self-taught tattoo artist who now works in collage, sculpture, and printmaking, are available for purchase as part of the FolkArtwork Collective.
After extensive solitary travels through the United States, Canada, and Europe, Kuhn began illustrating an ongoing travelogue on scrap cardboard and old book covers. Using limited painting techniques initially developed for making tattoo flash designs, this evolved into paintings and sculptures that depict the folkloric characters of cowboy or hobo, often incorporating diaristic and confessional writing.
Much more from Max Kuhn available for purchase now.

MUST-SEE
Tandem by SAGE Studio opened last night! A collaborative group exhibition where artists with and without disabilities spent a year mailing and sharing sketchbooks back and forth, creating collaborative artwork together, and getting to know one another through the creative process -- culminating in the group exhibition this September at SAGE Studio & Gallery.
See more works from these wonderful artists here.
MUST-WATCH
In 1981, Louisiana's most celebrated primitive artist was 96-years-old, maybe. Clementine Hunter doesn't know exactly when she was born and the church records that documented her birth were lost in a fire years prior. Not knowing her age doesn't really matter, it's just a number. These days she doesn't do a whole lot besides pray, and make art, just a little bit.
Watch a Louisiana Public Broadcast interview with Clementine Hunter at her home at Melrose Plantation in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana.
"I don't do nothing now, much, but paint a little. That's all." — Clementine
