FIND OF THE WEEK

Vintage 1970s 22" x 16.5" Handmade White Cat on Purple Latch Hook Wall Hanging

Look at that face? How could you not love this kitty? Shockingly, this kitty is still available for purchase via the great vintage store out of Pennsylvania, LacklusterCo by Beth Coller. I shared this excellent white cat on purple background hooked rug wall hanging on Instagram a few months ago. Not that I expected it to sell because I shared it, (can you imagine the narcissism?!) but because it’s cool as hell.

And because I shared this on Instagram a while back, and maybe it’s not exactly the “find of the week” — boom, a second hooked rug wall hanging.

Vintage 1970s 35" x 28" King Tut Latch Hook Rug Textile Pop Art Wall Hanging

This, I almost hesitate to share. Not because it’s not worthy, but because it’s cool as hell and I may have to buy it for my son’s room. For fans of the newsletter you know how obsessed my son and I are of Ancient Egypt, so this would be perfect for the both of us.

At the time of this writing these are both available for purchase (at great prices!) but that could change by the time you read this depending on whether or not my son walks down and sees this on my screen and forces me to buy it. I can only hope!

Both currently available via LacklusterCo.

Woman with Spider Web Shirt, watercolor, pencil, ballpoint pen on canvas 18.25 h × 11.375 w in

Last week’s “find of the week” was Henry McDonald’s Lee Godie inspired artwork. This week, I couldn’t stop thinking of Lee Godie as I plan a trip to Chicago and think about all the great artists that came out of that great city.

Godie, a self-taught treasure who created hundreds of inventive and striking works of art in the “French impressionist” style while living and creating on the streets of Chicago. I’ve seen a lot of works by Godie, online and in person, each one revealing new and fun hidden details.

The dozen I present today are some of the most unique, inventive, stylistic, and impressive works I personally have seen. Meet Lee Godie and these wonderful works of art.
