FIND OF THE WEEK
William Hawkins is considered as one of the biggest self-taught African-American artists of his generation. He was born on July 27th, 1895 in Union City, Kentucky. He grew up on a farm, which is where is love for animals came, and why you will find some of the most whimsical and charismatic animals you’ll find drawn or painted.
He is one of my favorite artists, and one of the reasons why I am doing what I am doing today. And since his birthday is coming up in a few days, this newsletter will be almost entirely dedicated to his life and work. Enjoy!
This work is available for purchase via Christian Berst.
