Carway creates functional and fitting folk art pieces inspired by his experience living in Norwich, England. His work plays in the space between functional objects and painting, resulting in small wooden pieces that illustrate scenes of everyday life, love, and religion. A tattoo artist, Carway has no formal arts training and handles these themes with cheekiness, often exaggerating or stylizing his painted imagery. In contrast, the physical construction of each piece conveys the sincerity of a parent crafting a makeshift toy for their child.

At some point in late 1792 or early 1793, the great Spanish artist Francisco de Goya was struck by a severe, undiagnosed illness that left him deaf and disillusioned.
The Follies is a series of prints by the Spanish painter and printmaker Francisco de Goya, created between 1815 and 1823. Goya created the series while he lived in his house near Manzanares (Quinta del Sordo), on the walls of which he painted the famous Black Paintings.
Produced alongside more official commissions, the visionary prints depict what Goya described as “the innumerable foibles and follies to be found in any civilized society, and from the common prejudices and deceitful practices which custom, ignorance, or self-interest have made usual”. KAY LE SEELLEUR ARA (b. 1941) fled the Nazis during World War II, attended university in Bath, taught art classes while raising two young children, and, now living on the island of Jersey at the age of eighty-four, creates artwork every chance she gets. After a life-altering fall in 2017 left her unable to walk unaided, Kay’s creative fire was fully unleashed. The accident that caused Kay’s disability also became the defining turning point in her artistic journey.
