OH WORD?

A must-watch documentary about the life and artwork of outsider artist Henry Darger is available on Youtube for free. “In the Realms of the Unreal” is a 2004 American documentary film written and directed by Jessica Yu about Darger, a custodian living in Chicago who unbeknownst to anyone until he passed in 1973, had written and illustrated a 15,000 page manuscript in his small apartment titled The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion.

FIVE YEARS AGO…

This wonderful Hawkins from 1985, shared five years ago — I’ve been doing this for five years now?! — is a wonderfully unique Hawkins. No border, no wild animals, and a limited color palette. William Hawkins would travel around with a briefcase full of magazine clippings and advertisements that he would use to inspire his works, which is where this image, I would have to guess, came from.
