TONIGHT! "Faces In The Crowd" opening reception!
the first ever folkartwork exhibit opens in des moines, iowa -- from 5pm-8pm come down to the fitch building to support self-taught artists from around the globe
Tonight is the night! The opening reception for "Faces In The Crowd", the first ever FolkArtwork exhibit takes place in Des Moines, Iowa at the Fitch Building (304 15th Street, Suite 100) from 5pm - 8pm.
For the past few weeks 15 self-taught and visionary artists from across the globe have been creating new drawings, paintings, and sculptural works, shipped them to Iowa to be displayed for the world to see. All works will be up for the entire month of November, with the doors open to the public every weekend in November from 12pm-4pm or on weeknights by appointment only.
All works are available for purchase, and for those who can't make it to Des Moines will be able to view the exhibit online at FolkArtwork.art later today.
In preparation for the show, I spoke to local magazines DSM Magazine, Little Village, and CITYVIEW who did great features on the FolkArtwork Collective and what goes into setting up a show, including background on my story of how I got into this wonderful world of 'outsider art'.
Big thanks to every artist involved for trusting me to be a part of their artistic journey, for my family for their help and support along the way, and for everyone who has followed @folkartwork, bought work, subscribed to the 'This Week in Outsider Art' newsletter -- everyone. Without you, this may not have been possible. And stay tuned for what's next!
See you on November 9th at the “Faces In The Crowd” exhibit at the Fitch Building in Des Moines, Iowa.
“Faces In The Crowd”
So many of my favorite artists and people I feel lucky enough to call friends will have work on display. After an opening reception celebration, the exhibit will run through the entire month of November at the historic Fitch Building in downtown Des Moines, just steps away from the Pappajohn Sculpture Garden.
This exhibit will feature the artworks of local Iowa artists, work from Los Angeles to New York City, as well as Canada and London — and for the first time ever the works of the late James Ash will be on display. More information will be coming out in the coming weeks including artist interviews, exclusive sneak peeks and more.
All artwork will be available for purchase in person and online. Works will be made available on FolkArtwork.art as well as the @folkartwork Instagram shop after the conclusion of the opening reception.
“Faces In The Crowd” a FolkArtwork production will have an opening reception on Saturday, November 9th in Des Moines, Iowa at 304 15th Street / Suite 100 — all are welcome!
