FIND OF THE WEEK
For a long time, I sure won’t forget the look on Susan’s face when I walked into her Antique Indian Arts store in Santa Fe, as she was packing up for a vacation and said to her, “Is that a Sister Gertrude Morgan on the wall?”
She was beaming with delight! She shared with me how she acquired it, and even though she is now into collecting religious indigenous artwork, she instantly fell in love with this Gertrude Morgan.
Per Susan Swift, “A painting by Sister Gertrude Morgan, (1900-1980), a street preacher in N'Orleans who founded an orphanage and the Everlasting Gospel Mission in NOLA where she sang and preached and made her paintings. This one recounts Jesus meeting the Woman at the Well.”
This work is available for purchase.
