FIND OF THE WEEK
I’ve said it once, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There’s something magical about vintage student artwork. This past weekend my seven-year-old got upset because he was trying to draw the sinking Titanic, and it didn’t quite look exactly how he wanted. After I reminded him that nothing is perfect and he should do his own thing, he turned the sinking Titanic into an eight eyed duck. It was beautiful, and I was so happy with how proud he was.
This work by one Judy Hammer is a mixed media work with a gorgeous antique frame. The subtle work, featuring a man working in a field with gorgeous greens and blues is a peaceful reminder of another time. I would love to know what Judy was making, what inspired her, and why she didn’t make it have eight eyes. We’ll never know, but at least we’re left with this wonderful work that could be yours.
