FIND OF THE WEEK

These Oaxacan red painted, hand carved animals are clearly beautiful. I have only seen them in the collection of the American Folk Art Museum before, but one of my favorite tattoo artists around — Mr. Blue — also happens to be a collector of folk art and has finally launched a website to sell and share his out of this world collection with, well, the world.

Attributed to a Manuel Jimenez, these were likely created around the early 1980s, as they appear nearly identical to those in the American Folk Art Collection. I don’t currently have $700 to spend on this trio, but if you can imagine I did I sure as heck wouldn’t be telling you to buy these.

A gorgeous trio I would love to own and would be sure to be a showstopper conversation starter for your collection or mine. A real treat, thanks Mr. Blue!

This work is currently available for purchase on Trinket.la
