Here are a few things I’ve been reading this past week:
OH WORD?

The first ever FolkArtwork show “Faces In The Crowd” is in the books! Thank you again to everyone who came out to the opening reception, purchased work online and came on the chilly Iowa weekends to see the work in person.
While the space is all packed up and the artwork is currently carefully and neatly organized on my living room floor, there is still opportunities to see all the work and purchase available pieces — now at reduced prices!

This was the first ever FolkArtwork show, but definitely not the last. Stay tuned for upcoming exhibit announcements as we continue to look for more spaces to show self-taught and outsider artwork from super talented artists across the globe. Have a coffee shop looking to dress up your walls? We got you covered! Vintage clothing store? Old warehouse? Empty garage? Let’s have a pop-up show!
Plus, in 2025 the FolkArtwork Collective will be hitting the road for some major exciting shows that you’ll have to stay tuned to learn more about! Thanks again to everyone for their love and support, it means the world to this little guy from Iowa. <3
SHOUT OUT
Shout out to artist Ashley Mary, who has brought her wonderful artwork and talents to Des Moines, Iowa — she had her first showing of artwork this past weekend and I can’t wait to see more of it around town. Very excited to connect with her and hopefully see more of her art at an art space near me and you!
FROM “FACES IN THE CROWD”
Gabrielle K Brown is a versatile artist known for storytelling through paintings, sculptures, and public murals. Her work, often made from wood and various paints, combines a natural, intuitive style with complex aesthetics. Brown’s pieces explore the relationships we have with ourselves, contrasting confrontational imagery with uplifting symbols and words, highlighting the extremes of the human condition and experience.
