FIND OF THE WEEK
Yesterday, I picked up my son from daycare and he informed me that he was now a chicken. He clucked and bawked the entire walk out of the building, as he rolled down the hill, and while climbing into the car. The only English words I could get out of him for the first 10 minutes after we reunited was him saying he was going to tell his brother that he is a chicken now. He’s one of the funniest and goofiest kids in the world.
Which is why when I saw these beautiful chickens from the 1960s, they immediately reminded me of my wild and crazy family who is not afraid to pretend to be chickens, correspond as chickens, or cluck and bawk in public.
One of the best places to find antique folk art for purchase, Lackluster Co. curated by Beth Coller, makes these chickens available for purchase this week. Complete with a rooster, a hen, and two chicks, the biggest stand about 22 inches tall all hand painted on wood. They are perfectly aged and charming as all get out. If only my three-year-old had a couple hundred dollars so we could purchase them and carried them around all day pretending to be chickens…
Bawk.
