FIND OF THE WEEK

William Hawkins, Rattlesnake No. 3, (1988) // Enamel on Masonite; 48 x 60 in. via Frank Maresca

When in doubt, Frank Maresca is here to save us!

This newsletter is going out later than I would have liked, not that it matters but I was really tired last night so instead of trying to stay awake when I lay on the couch with my son at 7:30pm while he listens to a British lady read a story, I also fell asleep and stayed asleep! It was really nice! But also, I owe you a newsletter, and here it is.

And of course, it includes an artwork by William Hawkins! Not just any artwork, this work which I’ve had the pleasure to see in person as it did? does? used to? at least at one point in time hung above the bar at the Figge Art Museum’s restaurant in Davenport, Iowa.

This Hawkins, a wonderful snake, very fitting for today (Thanks again Mr. Maresca!) as it is the Lunar New Year, the year of the snake.

I don’t think this work is available for purchase, but it is available to look at and mesmerize and enjoy. So please do that and have a blessed year of the snake.

✌️ every wednesday, this bonus newsletter with bonus outsider art content, including exhibit listings, personal collection highlights, and news of the week, will be sent to paid subscribers. The weekly ‘This Week in Outsider Art’ newsletter that goes out every Sunday morning continues to and will always be free of charge — enjoy ✌️
