FIND OF THE WEEK

Everyone’s being a punk these days. But not everyone is as cool as these punks. My son told me to stop being a baldy old man. He’s a cool punk. Some kid at school yesterday told me to listen to the Joe Rogan podcast. He’s a misguided punk. There’s some wild people who are being nominated to run our country who are unequivocally white nationalist, woman hating, not cool punks.

These punks below, are cool punks.

Carnival knockdowns are often called "punks" due to their resemblance to the word's older, less commonly used meanings. The term "punk" historically referred to something of little value or importance, which aligns with how these dolls or figures were seen as inexpensive, simple targets for carnival games.

The connection likely solidified in the early 20th century when carnival knockdowns were typically made of stuffed fabric or sawdust, giving them a scrappy, humble appearance. Over time, the term "punk" came to be associated with these game targets, solidifying its place in carnival lingo.

Be a cool punk. Down with the racist punks.

These knockdown dolls are available for purchase via the wonderfully curated and fantastically run Instagram account Undeveloped Eye.
