b-b-bonus this week in outsider art // february twenty-eighth
outsider art fair preview and things I cant wait' to see in NYC that are not at the outsider art fair
» If you haven’t yet, check out my article “13 Black Folk Artists From The American South” published in Daily Art Magazine «
As you open this newsletter, I will be on my way to New York City for the 2024 Outsider Art Fair. Stay tuned to @folkartwork on Instagram, www.folkartwork.art, and these newsletters for photos and videos of all the beautiful and wonderful artwork on display later this week.
FIND OF THE WEEK
I love all I have seen so far as I quickly glance through the Outsider Art Fair online viewing rooms. From the ‘CC’ rug that Cavin-Morris will have at their booth, the Shinichi Sawada work Jennifer Lauren Gallery will have on display, and an out-of-this-world Bill Traylor Fleisher/Ollman will present.
So far, one of my favorites is something you won’t find in the online viewing room, but this fantastic Raymond Coins carved river stone Duff Lindsay of Lindsay Gallery shared with me. Any piece that feels like it could either be created last year or 10,000 years ago, or from this earth or another planet, I’m in love.
✌️ every wednesday, this bonus newsletter with bonus outsider art content, including exhibit listings, personal collection highlights, and news of the week, will be sent to paid subscribers. The weekly ‘This Week in Outsider Art’ newsletter that goes out every Sunday morning continues to and will always be free of charge — enjoy ✌️
On top of the Raymond Coins river stone, Lindsay Gallery will have terrific beaded works by Nancy Josephson, great Clementine Hunter, Sister Gertrude Morgan works, and a stellar Howard Finster painting. I can’t wait to see and share everything from New York with you all.
