FIND OF THE WEEK
One thing I love about folk art and self-taught artists is there are no rules. They didn’t go to school to learn how to stretch a canvas. They weren’t told not to paint on certain things or shown the “proper” way to do things. That’s why I think his piece sticks out to me. Of course, it’s one of the pieces shared by Undeveloped Eye this week that is not for sale, and I totally get it. The color palette is spot-on, the composition is perfect, and the arched and rounded piece of wood it is on makes it stand out in the crowd. I would love to hang it in my son’s bedroom. Maybe one day!
This work is not currently for sale, but the Undeveloped Eye has quite a few amazing other pieces currently or sale on Instagram.

B-B-BONUS
This summer in Santa Fe, I was finally introduced to the wonderful world of Mamie Deschillie, perhaps my new favorite artist with some of my all-time favorite artwork.
Best known for cardboard cutouts of animals native to the American Southwest, her works, which also include illustrations that look fresh out of a contemporary children’s book, bring me so much joy and always put a smile on my face.
These works were sold at auction over the years and are currently in private collections.
