FIND OF THE WEEK

“Beautiful in Death” // ‘Skeleton Leaves’ stereopticon card / photograph mounted on paperboard / c. 1870s

One of my favorite sellers of Antiques and Americana is a wonderful place called ‘Old As Adam’ located in Providence, Rhode Island, run by Adam Irish. I have never traveled to this store but often frequent their online gallery. This piece I have selected today is a wonderful stereopticon titled “Beautiful in Death,” complete with skeleton leaves from the late 1800s — fittingly, I presume, for this autumn weather as we enter the spooky season and the countdown to Halloween is on. A lovely display of artwork from a time long gone, before the advent of computers, a simpler time with beautiful, simple, and creative works.

This piece is currently available for purchase from “Old as Adam”

B-B-BONUS
This Week in Outsider Art

Anna Mond is an artist based in Germany who creates the most fantastical beings. Creating original, mythical, wildly vibrant, and imaginative works of art using a mix of acrylic and oil paint, Anna Mond creates some of the most fun, unique, and interesting works out there. While she does not have an online store, you can check out her Instagram and message her to see any available works (they go fast!) or scroll her page for days to have your mind completely blown away.
