FIND OF THE WEEK
I try to make sure that I check in on the most recent works from Alyne Harris at the Jeannine Taylor Folk Art Gallery at least once a month, and to my delight, I was not let down with my last check-in because I was greeted with this wonderful piece titled, “Witch with Black Cats”. Alyne Harris was born in Florida in 1943, a distant cousin of sculptor Jesse Aaron, and has been sitting on her front porch in Gainesville with her apron painting for most of that time. Her work is very imaginative but also plays on her recollection of memories and draws from her African-American heritage. I’m thrilled to own my own Alyne Harris painting, and if I can convince my wife we need this one, it may not be available much longer. But for now, it could be yours…
This piece is currently available for purchase from Jeanine Taylor Folk Art in Florida.
