FIND OF THE WEEK
You know a good Mose T when you see one. And this, is a good one. Because all Mose Tolliver works are a good one. This is one of a few works by Tolliver that artist and curator John Drury acquired directly from the artist. This adorable black cat has the best expression — surprised, terrified, scared or likely, getting ready to pounce — you can see it in those beautiful yellow eyes. Tolliver has a diverse group of works, lots of self-portraits, some that are not safe for work, one I’ve seen dedicated to Bill Traylor and a lot of animals. This is one of the coolest I’ve seen.
B-B-BONUS — The Year in Review(ish)
Last night, I had the most fun looking at and preparing the @folkartwork end of the year, year in review, best posts of 2023. Honestly, it’s a nice easy way to repurpose some great art — something I don’t usually do, as I strive only to share things never shared before — but also to see which artworks made the most noise, the biggest dent or got the most love on Instagram. All of these works are on here because they received the most likes from you beautiful folks on Instagram.
I started the countdown yesterday, going from thirteen to one. You’re seeing the rest of the list here first. Everyone else will have to wait until December 31st, and imagine having to wait. Enjoy!
