b-b-bonus this week in outsider art // april 17th
cranky abe is cranky all of us and it's outsider art environment season
I try my best to do so, and would like to get this newsletter out every Wednesday morning. It is currently 8:43pm on Wednesday evening, and due to a headache, a photography class to prepare for, and a child who can’t fall asleep unless he’s on top of his dad I’m getting this out now. Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for understanding.
FIND OF THE WEEK
I’m sorry you’re cranky Abe, but I’m glad I get to enjoy this piece of art. The good people at Critical Eye Finds always, and I mean always, have the most incredibly delightful works of folk art and antiques.
I may or may not work at a high school named after Abraham Lincoln High School and I may or may not look like this after the end of some school days, so I can relate. And I definitely do love a handmade, wonderfully crafted piece of folk art.
This piece could really turn your cranky day upside down if you were to walk home and see that mug looking back at you. No notes, just delightful.
Cranky Abe could be yours if I don’t convince my school to buy it for me and hang it up on my door. More photos and info here from Critical Eye Finds.
✌️ every wednesday, this bonus newsletter with bonus outsider art content, including exhibit listings, personal collection highlights, and news of the week, will be sent to paid subscribers. The weekly ‘This Week in Outsider Art’ newsletter that goes out every Sunday morning continues to and will always be free of charge — enjoy ✌️
B-B-BONUS
It is spring. The weather is feeling great and I’ve been spending as much time as possible with my children outside. Basking in the sun, bouncing around barefoot in the mud, and falling down and scraping up our knees like it is going out of style.
It’s also the perfect time to go visit your favorite local art environment. Or get in the car and drive for a few hours, it would be totally worth it. Last week I shared a documentary about ‘Possum Trot’, last week’s Sunday newsletter featured ‘Ron’s Place’ and just last night I watched this clip on ‘Bishop’s Castle’.
