FIND OF THE WEEK
Now that I am entering the second week of school, my time spent looking at artwork and planning for class has converged. Not a bad thing, I am looking at examples of homemade flags for my graphic design class as they will soon be making their own personal flags. Naturally, I stumbled upon some pretty great examples, none better than this Asafo Military flag from Ghana. I don’t know much yet about these Asafo flags other than Asafo comes from “sa” meaning war and “fo” meaning people in the local Fante villages. That the only good flag is made by hand.

B-B-BONUS
Minnie Adkins was born in 1934 and, to this day, continues to carve these fun and unique wooden sculptures brought to you by Possum County Folk Art and Collectibles. I am thrilled to own my very own Minnie Adkins wood sculpture and was delighted to discover recently that Minnie, at the age of 88, also paints these colorful tigers, bears, and horses. All artwork below is available for purchase.
“She has been locally, nationally and internationally recognized for her unique carvings. She’s received numerous awards, local, state wide and throughout the United States and abroad.”
